- Do I need to be a certified teacher?
- ARTF places certified retired educators. If you spent your career as a licensed classroom teacher, you're exactly who we're looking for. OWL certification prepares you for the platform itself.
- How much time does it take?
- Most tutors give 1–3 hours per week. The relationship matters more than the volume.
- Will I have to pay for anything?
- No. The background check, OWL certification, and the platform are free to you.
- Is there a stipend?
- Where available, stipends are voluntary and structured to comply with applicable laws, tax rules, and school policies.
- How are students kept safe?
- Every tutor is background-checked. All contact happens on the OWL Platform. Child-safety and mandatory-reporting training is completed before you're ever matched with a student.
- What if I'm not great with technology?
- The platform is built for retired educators — large type, clear buttons, simple steps. If you can use email, you can use OWL.
